Time catches everyone
And the world goes round the sun
And the memory lives on in my heart
Going back to the start

- Time, Sandi Thorn

'06 is gone just like that. and '07 comes barging through the front door, not a warning at all. ohwells, i have always been blur and recently my memory is starting to resemble a leaky faucet. i forget things, experiences, time and only retain the latest event. (i even forgot about cambridge till someone reminded me :/)

perhaps that's testament of how frazzled i have been these hols. too many things, too little time. so much so that my dad agrees with me that 1. there was no holiday, what holiday?! and 2. school will be a much welcome break (at least i have time to sit and stone :P)

too many thoughts like geese trampling flower blooms but i don't want to bore you. :)

so i sat and reflected a bit today. felt vaguely satisfied with chiong-ing a 3488-word uncompleted :/ ee in a span of two days. (and for the worried ones out there: I HAVEN'T TOUCHED TOK! so don't panic, i have so little time and i'm no superman/woman. hah)

so, a quickquick evaluation time : every month of '06 was well-spent and crammed with activities. the old friends still in contact, still intact, perhaps not as close but even more treasured :) then everyone new so stimulating, interesting, lovely in their own way and made me feel so privileged, so appreciative of having their friendship, for knowing them. my passions, my thoughts rather fufilled. yes, there were rough patches this year but every year has some, and like they say, 'what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!' :)

'06 wasn't the easiest of years in my rather short life span, but it was definitely one of the most exciting, memorable, tumultous, menaingful, self-discover'ing' and something-i-wouldn't-give-up-for-a-lifetime till i get back next year(this year, i mean.. see my memory) :P

okay to end off, all those of you who still want to cuddle in the warmth and blanket of '06, so do i!

but we must again, face the world...

(and yeah, it's not the countdown of years, they are just man-made segments to cut up your lifetime into more orderly(?) periods. it's what you do with the year. so year-ends are more meaningful than year-starts :P)

i don't claim to know myself very well, in fact not at all sometimes... it's hard when a person can have so many facades even hidden from him/herself..

well, if you want to be safe in a crazy world?

you have to be safe from your own fears, your own thoughts, your own hopes and expectations, your own desires.

no one is safe from themselves.

because it's what we put upon ourselves that makes the world such a crazy, dangerous place.

so in three words, heck it lah! :P

since i started with a song, i shall end with one too by sandi thorn too :)

Some of us are reaching for stardust
Some of us are digging for gold
But it won't mean a lot on a mountaintop
When the wind reaches out for your soul

Some of us stand in the spotlight
Waiting for a round of applause
When the people go home you're left all alone
To face the sadness behind closed doors

I don't want the sun don't want you to run
Don't want superman
don't need wonderland
Just want you to love me

Some of us want silver linings
To be the belle of the ball
Going down in a blaze of glory
The story means nothing at all

I don't want the sun
don't want you to run
Don't want superman
don't need wonderland
Just want you to love me

---
and it reminds me as unsafe as it is, love is all we need in the end to sustain :)

un moment à se rappeler
. a moment to remember.

"What's in a name?
That which we call
a rose
By any other word
would smell as sweet."

-Romeo and Juliet
